It may be drawn out at times, but there are some awesome moments on here

This is actually my favorite album of theirs since Six Degrees. It's the only one that really gets closer to that classic DT sound for me

I could agree with best since 6 degrees.....this or black clouds for me

I give the slight edge to this one over Black Clouds, mostly because I think the epics are better. Lost Not Forgotten, Bridges in the Sky, and Breaking All Illusions are some of the best songs the band released since their heyday imo. Shame that they couldn't keep it up with their other post-Portnoy releases

Bridges and Illusions for sure. I really like Outcry too.

I think a big part of why this album worked so well is that the band probably felt they had something to prove after Portnoy left. I think John Petrucci said as much in some of the interviews as well

I like the self-titled too. There's a lot of great stuff on that one as well. Underrated record.

This and the new one are still my personal favorites from Mangini-era DT. Been listening to this one a lot lately

Hey at least you gave your two highest ratings to I&W and SFAM. Definitely my favorites alongside Awake :]

yeah all things considered those are two great albums, their current run's been underwhelming for years, even before Portnoy left.

If Dream Theater and In Flames switched vocalists today, which band gets better, which band gets worse? Or is it both get worse, both get better.?
|
| |
I say both get worse, but In Flames breaks up and doesn’t even make it to the studio.
|
| |
Though if Anders could be managed Dream Theater does have a shot of being a better band.
