What do you mean by 8 and Uneven Structure?

@TrantaLocked: I think you're missing what separates this band from Death/Metalcore bands in general. Despite the fact they these said bands take the breakdowns and open noted/polyrhythm based style of playing from Meshuggah, the style and the way which is presented by Meshuggah that means their style of either Thrash influenced aggression or groove based style couldn't be any more different and that's why they're revered. Their sense of groove is more than being open ended breakdowns with dull vocals, it's a sense of never ending robotic hypnotism combined with a brilliant songwriting and Jens' vocals being used as a part of the music rather than being the centre of it that make it more interesting. It's soulless, crushing and repetitive structure means that its slight or highly noticeable changes feel far more significant, especially when you jump from album to album.
My fav example of this is BTBWSGIM from Koloss (minus Catch 33 but that's a whole album). What's being performed in that song has been performed on a instrumental side a million times before (which is why I can understand to an extend where your point's coming from) although the way that it's performed is what makes it IMO a brilliant song. Jens supports of crushing groove with a monotone yet powerful, commanding presence, full of life. Despite its presence, there's no lick or catchy vocal line, it's just a constant lingering presence fuelling the oil machine which is lead the brooding and dark guitars. The slightest changes while it's constantly dark groove yet me on edge and enthralled throughout and when the song breaks down to a drum/bass lead section, it further maximises the brooding feel of the seemly never ending assault. It's this sense of mechanical yet larger than life darkness or aggression that makes me a large fan of this band, and I hope this explanation gives some insight into why some people regard Meshuggah as a god in a sea of imitators. Whether they are the imitated or not I couldn't care, what I care about is the excution of their craft and IMO Meshuggah masters of it.

I heard Meshuggah before any of their imitators, and it took me a while to get into the style, but once I did I realized they were the most unique metal band I had ever heard (besides maybe Opeth or Tool) and I had listened to a LOT of different metal. Yes their music is repetitive, but like what people are saying, it's so original and fascinating, especially if you're a musician and really, really pay attention to what they're actually playing and doing.

I've listened to tons of Metalcore/Deathcore and i still happen to find Meshuggah amazing back in 2012.
I mentioned 8 by Uneven Structure cus that's the actual only release that feels a bit like Meshuggah. All the djent stuff falls really far from what Meshuggah do imo. 8 has that mechanical, hammering feel
