i avoid being super generous with my ratings and i do think this is one of their weakest; say third or fourth worst

Album Rating: 3.0
Agreed, it's on the weaker side but is certainly enjoyable in parts and small doses.

This or Octavarium might be the next album I get from DT, but Octavarium's only good for the t/t and maybe 1-2 other songs. This I can listen to all of despite weaker tracks.

Stream of Consciousness is needlessly self-indulgent

Stream of Consciousness is one of the least indulgent DT songs tbh, probably top 5 for me

Stream of Consciousness is act surprisingly tight

Album Rating: 4.0
Hard disagree on that tbh. It's a long ass song, but probably the best composition here. Other songs like In The Name of God are far worse in this regard

I definitely preferred In The Name of God.
Ftr I dont dislike SoC, just did not think it even remotely justified its lengthy stay

Stream of Consciousness is one of the least indulgent DT songs tbh [2]
Especially when it comes to their 10+ minute songs
Weirdly I find all of their instrumentals to be some of their most tasteful stuff... it’s songs like In the Presence of Your Enemies and The Great Debate where they’re at their worst. Just building and building and building for the sake of building.
