That was my Whitechapel review last night...I know at least one person was talking to himself using an alt...
On a random note, does Akerfeldt use vocal distortion? I keep seeing people claiming he does but I hear no evidence of this...

Not at all. Sounds natural.
The drumming is much better since Lopez left.
Sorry Josh, I have to disagree with you there. The production with the drums on this album is much better but its still regular Opeth drumming.

To get that deep tone is just a trick with your throat.

Such a convincing argument you have. I think I'll go burn all my Opeth albums and delete all their music from my computer right now!

No way in hell. The new guy does nothing that interests me. Every time I listen to GR or Morningrise, I think, "Wow, Lopez is actually creative!"

this...
Whatever Lopez lacked in overly technical playing, he more than made up for in really interesting beats and things of that nature.

Lopez actually underplayed alot. at least on GR and damnation and such
he was just damn good at writing interesting parts.
Axe is just too straightforward with his style which is prolly the main reason i dont like this as much as i should

I don't know what it is about this album, but it just seems kind of...tired? I mean don't get me wrong its still a great Opeth album it just seems more...forgettable than usual...

I feel the opposite actually, other than Still Life, this is the Opeth album I come back to the most.

Ya, same but throw in BWP too...the bonus songs are really good, if you have them.
