And yeah the ending of s/t is one of my favourite endings to any album ever tbh

Yep, agreed. They're both very 5.0-y 5.0s anyway. Two wonderful records.

Ha, good knowledge there

I just learned it myself. Googled it because when trif said down tuned Beth I got confused as I always thought it was someone else.

i like s/t more. This has a few tracks i like more maybe but this has some stuff that annoys me
|
| |
There’s definitely some grating stuff. But it was also so fascinating when it came out and I was relatively new to trip hop or much electronic or hip hop even that even the stuff that I didn’t “get” I still admired. Now I like most of that stuff too and don’t find it as challenging as I once did. But there are a couple songs I don’t care for, though they are probably the most simplistic ones.

I prefer this to the s/t - wholly unique album that's irreplaceable, scratches an itch that nothing else quite manages. Definitive 5 despite Dummy's existence.
s/t is still a solid 4.5 because the atmosphere / aesthetic is so thick, dark and... smoky? Yeah I wanna say smoky
probably the best 3 album run of all time, which is remarkable considering this was a 'comeback', no wonder they're afraid to release anything else and potentially spoil their legacy (I know this isn't actually the reasoning).
