Not really tbh, I think Good News is solid throughout, bar maybe 2 or 3 songs

I think this is better than Good News — that opening trio on Good News is amazing though.

The real question is: why argue over the most inessential part of MM's discography when there's tons of pre-2000 stuff to bump?
Priorities, people.

Because circle-jerking the same two-three albums gets boring

I beg to differ, I can jerk it to early-MM albums for decades, whereas this makes my wang limp immediately.
The circle beckons.

All MM is good MM as far as I'm concerned.

By my authority as cockringmaster of the official MM circlejerk, I relinquish my crown to you. A new era of jackin' it is upon us. One where all MM albums are wanked to equally.

Don’t tell this album but the only way I can wank to this is if I pretend it’s a diffent mm album

Whatever makes the dream work
I put a brown paper bag over it usually.
Don't think I actually believe in people choosing to listen to this instead of any other Modest Mouse album. They're closer to myths in my eyes, like bigfeet and unlock ness monster.

Tirade start:
This isn't indie goddamn it. MM haven't been indie for 20 years.
Does alternative not exist as a desciptor anymore? Cause I swear I go on RYM and look at an album released on a massive record label and almost always has the first genre as "indie pop". Makes me want to gouge my eyes out.
Tirade end.

Cuz the term indie changed awhile ago

'alternative' only really meant 'the alternative' for 5 minutes
'indie' only meant 'independent label' for 5 minutes
I guess the idea now being that stuff labelled with those genres has a similar sound and feel to the zeitgeist of those styles...or more, the sound is most similar to to those styles at the lack of anything better to label them as

Not to me damn it 😔 you're all just incorrect
Look out for my "death to false indie" list, coming never

'stuff that sounds a little like the original indie bands but with a commercial sheen and less innovation' isn't such a catchy genre tag as just calling it 'indie pop'

Add progressive to that list, doof

Alternative pop
There, just saved everyone's time and my own sanity.
Calling it anything else should result in jail time and a mandatory course in proper genre labels.

No, I will pigeonhole things exactly according to the system in my head
Thank you for your understanding

My only weakness: freewill. 😧
Whatever, I can only say "no it's not indie" so many different ways and it's not like anyone aside from me cares. Just feels like the scene lost the war is all.
What is it about this album that just makes me talk this damn much. I swear I'm fucked in the head or something.
