If I had to pick a favourite I'd go with Clean. One of a handful of albums that while listening I think every song sounds better than the one that played before. Zero skippers, but need to figure out why I can't 5.0 it.

Some days it's honestly Waiting for the Night for me. Electronic bliss

The way they played the stripped down version of Waiting for the Night at their latest tour was magical. I liked it way more than how they instrumented it at the exciter tour in 2001.
@mouldypigeon I find it interesting that your preference of songs increase sequentially. While Clean is definitely a gem here, World in My Eyes and Halo are the peaks for me. The way Violator starts with the synths of World… is probably among my favorite album starts ever.

Yeah I mean that less in terms of preference and more just an expression of how the album sucks you in beginning to end. By the time Clean comes around I am so invested I don't want the album to end.

It's great and to think originally it was supposed to be this really slow song written by Martin Gore. Apparently it got some synths and a faster beat and there it is the single as most know it.
It's a great song. I remember hearing that song probably on Vh1 back then or whatever and liking. I just wasn't going to be like all. I want this cassette tape of this band back then now or something as a adolescent. I wasn't that musically refined yet.

I was 10 when it came out and the music vid was on tele. I was transfixed.
Instant classic.
Although my first Depeche Mode album was Songs of Faith and Devotion

I got Ultra and this album in the earlier 2000s when I had some disposable income and was expanding my musical tastes. It was really fun. I got super into Ultra but of course this album was great.
It felt like Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis music at times and that is not a bad thing.

Hot Topic at my mall is closing. Actually got a 'Violator' shirt today half off. So 12 US dollars. Never seen that there before so that was a surprise to me. Sucks that place is closing. This mall does blow and I found little joy at this there anymore.
But in a different life path. Things coulda been better.

Violator shirts look awesome, they were all over the place after this got released, now I only see them occasionally at gigs. I hope they’ll never appear in H&Ms like those Nirvana & Joy Division & Ramones ones.
