Not sure if Butcher is my favorite song here but it's definitely up there, feel like Delgado gets a lot more to do on this album than on most of the stuff they've done since

For sure, he totally elevates the chorus in Prince, bridge too but it's less audible.
They just bury him lol like in the chorus of When Girls Telephone Boys, I only started to notice his eerie parts after hearing a live video and it totally changed the flavour of the song.
I think he does plenty of stuff on both Gore and Ohms though, he's just not highlighted. On Gore because it's Gore (aka "the album I love even though the production sounds straight-up unfinished"), on Ohms because he is simply too low to fight against the guitars except rare cases (Radiant City!) like how he is there throughout all of Genesis relegated to the background.

Yeah he kinda got shafted on Ohms but that album also gave Sergio Vega an actual spotlight for pretty much the first time since he joined the band so I can't be too mad lmao

I'm sorry but what? Ohms is literally the most prominent Delgado has ever been to the point of those synths being so in your face that it can be off-putting at times even.

Yeah, he definitely upped his game on Ohms. Haven't listened to the record in a while, but I do remember there being a heavier synth presence than your average Deftones album

Yeah if you think he got shafted on Ohms I'd hate to see what you think about any other album lol
|
| |
Dang apparently I gotta relisten cos I remember very little synth across that album! Though as sabrutin said it's probably more a mixing thing than Delgado actually not being on the album that much
|
| |
Yeah Ohms' dense sound is drenched with his work but I think he's still given too little importance when the other instruments play. There's no reason for him to be so low throughout all of Genesis (except for the intro ofc), or say the chorus of Spell in which he's a "colourful echo" even though he plays the catchiest melody of the song (I mean like 0:50). He also has that infectious sliding synth in the chorus of Radiant City that's kinda buried
bet it's just Carpenter afraid of losing his spotlight lol

damm, this album aged so well!!
There's a good amount of textures and shades in each song, the Chino's voice fits perfectly with the instrumental which make the musicianship very mesmerizing.

You have no idea man. This came out in my 2nd year of Uni and I used to skip a hell lot of classes just to listen to this thing in repeat. I was beyond obsessed with it. It was also the album that opened me up to a lot of incredible music.

So I guess I'm missing out if I haven't checked this huh? I've only heard Ohms and White Pony.

Wow, check this out immediately.

Immediately is a strong word lol. Will do, I'm trying to get into more metal this year.

Solid, but it all seems to bleed together. I think I’ll come back to this and give another try, I really liked Beauty School and 976-Evil.
