DE and KNY are my favorite Deftones albums, so I'm down for another album with Raskulinecz

de and koi sound like straight ass tho... not gore-level bad but the production is by far the worst part of both those albums imo

Production on Koi is actually pretty perfect for me, I wouldn’t want it any other way.
What is off for you?

Koi sounds great, Diamond Eyes is a little muddled imo but not terrible.
I’m just saying I don’t know how I feel about losing Terry. This album sounds much better than both of those.

Definitely excited for the return, thought this album was mind numbingly dull. Not sure how keen ill be to check it out though tbh, a band with values like theirs (vis a vis sergio) is clearly not operating out of a place of love for the music, which speaks to what the quality will likely be

I agree with alex. I mean Koi definitely sounds better, which i know they had different engineers on. Overall all though they just sound a bit too slick, sterile, & overproduced for my tastes. it works on some tracks (rosemary) but he has a tendency to make all the choruses sound HUGE and samey. (like l hate those those vocal overdubs on goon squad)

my main issues with the raskulinecz albums are steph's heavy tones sound super synthetic and the crash cymbals are ear piercing. also feel like sergio is essentially inaudible and both albums just sound blown tf out (de in particular)
while the songs aren't nearly as strong on ohms... i feel like this production is perfect for them. (will give terry the benefit of the doubt on the constant filter on chino's voice, 99% sure that's chino's call)

Ironically one of the engineers on Koi was the dude who ruined Gore lol. Nick has good production on his albums, though. I'm excited for the new stuff.

hmm quick scroll through his wikipedia:
snakes and arrows has not very good production, and the production nearly ruins clockwork angels (feel like nearly all post-80s rush albums have subpar production tho, will give him a pass here)
black gives way to blue sounds fine from what i remember?
will admit shogun is absolutely one of the best sounding trivium albums
00s stone sour albums?? i don't remember these but i feel comfortable blaming corey for anything wrong with them
idk about this guy, tho will note these albums + koi and de are all at least a decade old now maybe he's improved
