Been really digging "As Embers Dress The Sky" and "The Melancholy Spirit" lately. Both songs are incredible and hugely diverse, especially Embers.

Black Lake was an incredibly beautiful experience on first listen, but virtually lost all magic after that.

I agree. I thought it was amazing at first, but then I realized that it's about 5-10 minutes too long. Plus To Drown just sucks.

200 listens later from Noctus disagree with you
only 70 scrobbled but I listened to it a lot on my hi-fi and MP3 player so 200 is an estimate :]

You realize that 200 listens is almost 67 hours or 2.75 days spent listening to Black Lake.

Ghosts of the Midwinter Fires is probably the best song on Marrow pound for pound.

I found it was much easier to appreciate Marrow after having seen Agalloch live - it seemed to sound a lot better onstage, blasting from the speakers, with the guys only a few feet away from me... okay, well, maybe it just isn't that interesting to listen to sitting down with your laptop.

Eh I don't really think it matters. It's just not as good as any of their other albums. The Watcher's Monolith is the only track I would consider really great from Marrow.

Totally agree, the first couple verses are absolutely incredible and hands down the best thing on the album (in fact one of the few good things about the album).
