You mean to tell me fantano did a metal album review where he’s off the mark?! I’m shocked. [2]

Just remember that his only positive review for Steven Wilson was for The Future Bites. That should tell you everything you need to know, lol

Alright I gave this a second spin and this is A poor man’s Colors. No, a poor man’s Colors II.
The drums are the one consistently GOOD thing about this album. They are great in fact. Everything else in every conceivable way about this album sucks.
I have never, and I mean never, heard worse vocals on a metal record, and if you don’t want to consider this metal, then it’s the worst vocals on any record ever recorded ever.
A couple good solos here and there. Uninspired, pretentious riffs/atmosphere everywhere else.
There are interesting and potentially great ideas scattered throughout this record e.g., some parts of Mattel, and Nobody (I guess) but they are drowned out by the half-baked and sometimes downright hideous ideas e.g., beginning of Easier, the More… More… bit in We Love You, etc. This album bit off way more than it can chew, and they should be judged according to the bar they set for themselves; these guys are trying to be Pink Floyd, or BTBAM, or Mr. Bungle, but they aren’t (yet) nearly good enough song writers to pull it off. My hat’s off to em for giving the old college try, but I don’t wear a hat yada yada yada.

difference is sleep token is overproduced to shit and back and thoroughly unlikeable whereas this feels real and passionate and raw.

I probably just don't get this one. I don't even think it's bad. But mostly pretty good for me, though exciting for sure.

fantano has some quota he needs to fulfill of hating good music and plugging the worst shit ever, just to be subversive or stick it to societal norms or somethin idk
it's not even a matter of personal opinion, he consistently goes out of his way to be wrong just to get more eyes on him
unsubbed 5 years ago when i realized i'd never be able to find anything that appeals to me by watching the channel, and wish i could unsub from internet discussions of him too

“ the worst vocals on any record ever recorded ever.”
