What it is to burn was incredible for the time. Let’s be real lol, but this shits on it regardless. I enjoy both though I never bothered siding with the fanbases insane dedication to picking one and hating the other

I randomly got this when I released at Walmart when I was a teenager. What a lucky ass first post hardcore album to buy and get obsessed with lmao. Thanks Madden for putting Ink in the game and forever shaping my music taste!
Actually I think I got 18 visions before this which I did love too at the time… that era was so fun for genres like this

There was a dude who owned a small brick and mortar shop in my town for a few years and sold used CDs. RIP Dave's Music. He gave me this CD for free and said I would like it. There really was nothing like flipping through used CDs after school

That’s dope. I remember always coming home from school and watching fuse or whatever it was at the time doing a countdown of post hardcore and stuff. That was so wild back to to have never heard anything like underoath, thrice, and finch in my life. Seeing it on tv was so mind blowing lol
Actually think I heard finch on tv first with the what it is to burn music vid. Loved that song but never got into them fully until I was hearing ink several times a day while playing madden

I harp on bitemarks and bloodstains being an awful single choice because they were running it on tv for a bit and I remember just not liking it and being disappointed, almost moved on from the band for good until ink lmao

I mean it's the clear choice for a single here. Not the best song by a long shot but the most digestible for sure

I don’t see how Miro isn’t the clear choice tbh, like it even has the major’ish sounding catchy chorus and less screaming. Incredible track for real. Interesting the went with Ink on Madden though, back then that legit was arguably the biggest exposure a post hardcore band could get. I mean here I still an yapping about em… lmao

Crazy they didn't lean into this sound, it was so clearly the right direction. I guess it didn't make enough money and there were band disputes behind the scenes. Hopeless Host is just peak

Nate said they played this album for their label and they were shocked and appalled. A huge portion of their fanbase still wanted WIITB type shit. The world just wasn't ready for this masterpiece.
