thats weirdly accurate lol Talib is actually energetic and hungry sounding on the whole thing and Yasiin sounds like he's hungover and has bills to pay but somehow he's still kinda good anyway

That’s weird I definitely favor mos def over talib by far. Not a huge fan of either as rappers but yeah.

Man relistening to MOTHER I SOBER thinking about people touting it as Kendrick’s best song of all time like 😂😂😭😭😭😭

Definitely not. Lyrically it was definitely touching, and I think it was one of the high points of the record, but he’s done plenty of songs I love better.

Buggin'. Easily his best project. I'll write a review if I have to to further explain.

mother i sober puts me straight to sleep. I think the bulk of disc 2 could've been a lot more engaging instrumentally. not a fan at all of the drumless/piano/strings kinda vibe quite a few of the tracks take

Loooove that he announced a tour so quick. Either going to Chicago on August 19th or Kansas City on August 21st. Can’t wait.

100% agree, on the first Black Star album Talib is mostly just support for peak Mos who imo was one of the best of all time for a couple years there. it's weird to hear the script get totally flipped lol but I guess it's not too surprising considering Yasiin has barely rapped in like, over a decade?

that being said Black Thought flexes on both of them, to absolutely nobody's surprise

Yeah, Talib seems to be best suited for collaborative work. the two best things he’s apart of imo are Mood - Doom and Black Star by far. Don’t care about his solo stuff at all.

he definitely has a very particular way of crafting lyrics which is unique to him

i really like ski mask's lyrics as well in a similar vein, although i don't know if thats because his flows are so good they make anything sound decent

Mother I sober was a highlight for me but it was also for sure the most "HEY THIS IS AN ALBUM HIGHLIGHT AREN'T YOU IMPRESSED BY THIS BIG EMOTIONAL DENOUEMENT" track here
