discoveries is their worst full length by a mile

horrible tone, lackluster chug sequences that fail to paint a picture

the other album with their first singer is notably better

Yeah bro, great news. And luckily it's not just an overcompressed, sampled mess of a production to make it more 'modern', but actually something decent!

I mean, most anything would be better than that flat as a board production on the original version.

*Listens to the released new versions*

Hell to the fucking yes.

Wait. Will Putney also did the production on these re-recordings? Schrödinger's Producer strikes again.

I think it is someone else, Buster Odeholm: https://lambgoat.com/news/49899/northlane-announce-node-reloaded-share-rotexe-and-raexe/

Production does not sound like Will Putney at all imo, but perhaps he did the recording.

Ah yeah I see now. They still had him marked as producer (probably had too since he did the original production for Node) but at the bottom they have Buster under "Mixed, reamped & remastered"

Though I have serious doubts this is just a remastering. Those Vocals have obviously been re-recorded. You can hear it in Marcus's screams.

imma be real, besides making Afterimage and Dante sound clearer, I don't think a redo of Mirror's Edge's production is gonna save the other 3 songs.

I’m not sure how I feel about the redo To be honest. Marcus and the guitars sound fine/great but the drums are weird af to me. They feel super raw but turned up to 11 so it’s almost abrasive at times like too much treble or something. I’ll try on some proper cans later 🎧
