Agreed, I like the first single a lot but this is stronger for sure. And yeah, I was not prepared for how beautiful that bridge was, and my only disappointment was that it wasn't immediately plugged into a heavy section, but they worked the melody back in so that was cool.

It's how I interpret most vocals in metal as well. Rarely do I pay attention to lyrics and I typically don't have a good ear for picking up lyrics on new releases anyway. Throw in all the technicality and, yeah, makes perfect sense to view vocals through the lens of instrumentation.
