My bad, I didn’t realize you quoted my original comment. Maybe slightly hyperbole, but not as much as you’d probably hope. By and large, their albums felt totally indistinguishable to me, save for maybe GUTTER PHENOMENON. Play me almost any ETID track and I couldn’t begin to tell you which album it’s from.
Granted some of that is simply due to overall unfamiliarity, but as a counterpoint: I just ran through Coldplay’s discog, most of which i had never heard before. and I could more confidently assign random tracks to their respective albums, because at least each record had its own unique and defining sound.
That doesn’t mean I prefer Coldplay to ETID (quite the opposite actually), but it does speak to ETID’s tendency to play it safe with more or less the same sound they’ve had since their inception.

Of a sustainability past peak oil. Of a sustainability past biodiversity loss, this catabolic human overpopulation, this pendulum's on-rush of our Second Great Depression. Quantitative easing, indeed! T.A.R.P. and mortgage-backed securitizations. Insecurities abroad, militarizations domestic, and all the bald depredations of the poor. These failings great and small of which we all partook.

On the other side lies the land and Men. And mayhap again, Forefathers.

thank you tec for absolving me from having to check anything else from this band's discog. reckon this and the Ex Lives opener should be ample

This only means you do not know etid so much to write home about it.

'Granted some of that is simply due to overall unfamiliarity'

I would hazard a guess that this could be a major contributing factor.

'but as a counterpoint: I just ran through Coldplay’s discog, most of which i had never heard before. and I could more confidently assign random tracks to their respective albums, because at least each record had its own unique and defining sound.'

Sorry I cannot accept this as a counterpoint tect, Coldplay's music (in whichever form you choose) is likely distinguishable as their general sound requires no previous context or knowledge of an unfamiliar style. You yourself admitted to not being well versed in metalcore, so it will take time to tell songs apart. Coldplay doesn't require a 'bedding in' process.

However ETID certainly do have a style that is their own and some elements can be heard across their discog - my surprise related to this album specifically, as I believe they've crossed unfamiliar territory at times here. Generally the band pull from enough different elements to keep things fresh across their career, at least for me.

P.S. Thanks for answering, I was expecting a response as you're one of the few people who regularly dissect/analyse the things you like/dislike.

demon did u just try to present mxc as a nuanced acquired taste on the same thread where gourmet gorgeous cosmoprince robertsona has already declared all non-converge participants in the genre useless
bc that takes some balls
stop the hype stop whatever the counterforce is this is a fun thread now no more talking about music

At least tectactoe inspired me to do a full discography run. I don't think I've ever done that. I always stick to a record for quite some time before moving on. I stuck to Low Teens for 2 years I think before checking out Hot Damn and From Parts Unknown

And Johnny no you cannot ignore the rest of their disocg, tect is incorrect. The fact you like some chaos and have been known to appreciate core elements, I'd suggest at the very least checking From Parts Unknown, it's ETID at their most condensed/intense.
