'Luckily, I get to decide how much I work without it ever reducing my income to an uncomfortable low, so time is never an issue'
Damn, I'm envious af right now. Good for you man. Essentially if it's an album that requires headphones, or to be played at a decent volume at least, plus it's more than an hour, I struggle to squeeze in one spin per day. If this was 45-50 minutes long (heaven forbid), then I'd have played the shit out of it on my commute.

Unless Dysrhythmia can top this, I don’t see anything dislodging A Dawn To Fear as my AOTY. It’s consistently great throughout. Though I enjoy Fear Inoculum, its weaknesses (drawn out bridges, which feel very static at times: e.g second to last segment of Invincible) are where CoL shine most. I think a lot of this has to do with the ability of a band to sound like they’re playing together in the same room, feeding off each other, subtly changing the direction of a track, rather than sending cut and paste segments for other members to perform over, which is often my complaint with weaker prog/post metal. Dirge were excellent at that, too.

It was hard to appreciate songs after Lights on the hill because that track is so massive and it felt like album ended. Lights on the hill is so beautiful, especially ambient part in the ending. Luckily now i see how great final tracks are too. Inland Rain is one of my favourites now.

As far as slow songs go, I'm leaning We Feel the End > A Dawn to Fear but only slightly

I almost (cause Imma maaaaan) cried to We Feel the End the day before yesterday though...

Am I the only one who can't really get behind "We Feel the End"? It's a much-needed change of pace from "Lights on the Hill" for sure, but I just feel like the song is less exceptional than it thinks it is. Though not that it matters because the previous song pretty much blows everything else out of the water.

We Feel the End is a true slow song (in that A Dawn to Fear has a metal ending), but I feel like it breathes slow throughout, and doesn't try to swell too much. Reminds me of an introspective Caspian song.

We Feel The End is the ‘weakest’ track, sure.
