Far be it from me to agree with Dedes, but Less Sex is the clear frontrunner.

Even among all those influences listed by butch, some I can see and a few more that I don't quite see, even having listened to nearly all of them, I think this album carves out an absolutely unique niche for itself. Plus even if no one thing about a group/artist is completely original (nearly impossible to do) you can still manifest a specific, unique blend of influences into something worthwhile.

yeah I don't buy all those influences either and I adore a lot of those bands especially einstuerzende neubauten
i hear a lot of public image ltd's third album in this one but that owns cos I always wanted that record to be twice as long
also the delivery of "their channels... *big pause*... are open" is gonna be the entire basis for some other people's albums from now on

Agreed, Cimnele. Had that "THIS WORLD....IS OPENING UP" part drilled into my brain for a week. Those guitars in the chorus are too good.
Btw, nice Imperial Triumphant dig

The album starts very slowly, City Song is too long, but then it catches up. I especially like where they placed Less Sex in the tracklist, it works really well.

City Song works for me. One the album highlights, but also I like power electronics/noise/industrial type shit a lot. It really sounds unhinged and disturbed imo. More than a ton of music tries to.

I want to like this. I like a lot of noise rock and industrial, but this is just boring to me. Someone help.

first of all, listen to The Reason They Hate Me and realize how much it BOPS. Then listen to Less Sex and appreciate the toned-down dark bluesy vibe so you can catch your breath for a minute. Then skip ahead to Ocean Song and read along with the lyrics. This song is more story-telling style. If you're still not feelin it then maybe it's just a no go for you!

Listening to this alone at night is what got me to the 4.5, if I didn't do that it may be lower
Right environment is necessary for this album imo

I will honestly try those specific songs now and do a different environment this weekend.

Damn The Reason They Hate Me is sick. Actually never made it that far in the album before so it was worth skipping ahead to experience it.

Almost unrecognizable from the band I remember (Canada Songs) from when I was younger and had a crush on The Locust and every band that sounded like them..Then The Flammable Man kicked in.
So far The Lords Song is easily my favourite.

Ahaha, I've seen a ton of people label this as metal. It is heavy, but yeah definitely not metal imo
