I'm like Sisyphus with this shit. I go through the whole album and have no agency but to hit play again.

Discussion point: The out of fucking nowhere drone strike of guitar at the end of Flee Thou Matadors is actually the exact specific reason that music was created

"I go through the whole album and have no agency but to hit play again."
I know, right? And with this, Metric, The Joy Formidable, and now the new Cursive all being phenomenal my head just ends up spinning haha

No, you must like it immediately or you’ll be stripped of all standing and required to take a psych evaluation pending admittance to the Sputnik re-education camp!
Actually, on second thought, maybe we can be a tad less fascist about this.
You’re allowed to give this album a 4.

"Will come back when I know I’m ready because I’m sure that I’ll love it at some point."
The only reasonable choice

B,S is my #1 album of all time, and it was from day one after being obsessed with CFUTF since the day it was released (Tower Records had mwY bumper stickers included with the album!). But every album since then has taken varying lengths of time to grow on me, Ten Stories took a few weeks but Pale Horses almost an entire year. So I went into this expecting it to be a grower, and I was shedding tears on my first listen.
I haven't been immediately obsessed with a mwY album since B,S but I haven't listened to anything else all week. I never in a million years thought they'd release an album as epic and perfect as B,S but hooooooly shit they might've gone and fuckin done it.

Survey - how many times have you emotionally screamed “7_29” into the ether in the past week?

This is my first mwY album which is probably why this was a bit disappointing on first listen. Really liked Another Head For Hydra, Flee Thou Matadors, and most of the second half. Will probably grow on me

Yeah, man, this band’s discography builds and progresses upon itself more perfectly than about any band I know. If you grow to like this album, I’d bet you’ll like it far more knowing where it came from.
