If Underoath is going to keep making radio friendly music, they really need to learn to write better hooks, because some of the hooks here are fucking awful. Especially Ihateit and Wake Me. Outside of that, I think there's a lot of interesting things going on in this, but if feels...messy. Spencer said in an interview that they didn't want to be limited by what Underoath is "supposed" to sound like. I think that they tried to throw a bunch of new (for them) elements into the mix, and as a result you have messy, aimless sounding album, albeit with some good individual tracks.

I'm surprised ihateit is getting so much hate for its chorus. It's one of the only things that I've actually liked on this album. Ya'll are gonna grill me for this but my rankings by favorite UO albums go:

The Changing of Times > They're Only Chasing Safety > Define the Great Line > Cries of the Past > Lost In the Sound of Separation > Disambiguation > Erase Me

Aaron (before Erase Me): The next album is gonna be our most experimental and heaviest yet!

Some good songs... and some really terrible ones.

After setting the bar high with most of their prior work, this one def falls short.

Might bump to a 3. There's still some real bad songs on here but overall the tone of the album works. Still need to listen more, tho.

Hey, I did preface it by saying it's by my favorites and not by what I think is their best. I don't like Disambiguation though.

I was expecting this to be a total disaster, but the opener is actually pretty OK. Hoping it holds up a little bit. The production is awful though.

All rankings that don't say Lost in the Sound is their best are wrong.

update: it did not hold up. the opener and Sink With You are dope, but this is bogged down by boring songwriting, bad production and worse lyrics
