Yeah and the ending of A Single Tear could have been shaved back tbh

It seems the main flaw of this album is that the best moments are fleeting and the worst can drag on (not that A Single Tear is the worst but it still drags)

No doubt. I mean, I still like that track, but it would be so much better if it just went straight from I Can Tell You into Wildlife. If thirty seconds was shaved off of A Single Tear and they removed the t/t this would have been a 5 for me

The pacing on this album is a little off yeah. Like the t/t is good but feels weird in the middle. I prefer most of the shorter aggressive tracks on here compared to the more melodic moments. Overall it's another really solid Converge album though. Eye of the Quarrel and Under Duress is probably my favorite one-two punch on the album. And yah Broken by Light shreds.

Props to Bannon for doing his own cleans this time around. The songs are pretty solid, but they definitely aren't Cruel Bloom/Wretched World tier

Is it me or the first song (A single Tear) sounds a bit too commercial, like gimmicky metalcore almost?

I get that vibe too. It sounds like some random band heard Aimless Arrow and tried to write their own version of it.

It's definitely an inferior Aimless Arrow, very reminiscent but isn't as well written. Not a bad song at all, it's just these guys are capable of more.

I feel like the part after the first chorus kinda drags and makes the song overstay its welcome. First two verses and chorus are great though. I usually start listening to this from Eye of the Quarrel.

Yeah I don't understand why they dragged the song out so much, a more concise version definitely would've had more impact especially when leading into Quarrel.
