What's to enjoy about something that burns the hell out of your throat and tastes like rubbing alcohol? Mixed with something, It's great, or even on the rocks, once it's become slightly watered down. I've heard people talk about how much better vodka x is from a lesser brand, which i always find hilarious."It's triple distilled to perfection" lol k. Still tastes like ass

As someone who usually drinks hard liquor straight, I can attest to the enjoyment stemming from some sort of subtle masochism. That said, the top shelf stuff goes down way smoother than those haggard mids with the colored price tags on a weekly rotation.

Empire Line isnt really growing on me at all. i find it instrumentally bland and lyrically theres nothing interesting. worst track on the album imo.

@evokaphile I'm the same way. What do you like? I love bourbon personally, currently pairing some Eagle Rare 10 with this album haha.

Think 'System' will eventually end up my overall favourite song here - esp after I've watched them perform it live. When they kick into that solo that'll be one of those live musical moments for me I'm predicting.
The 'full guitar' live version of Guilty Party is incredible too, can't wait to hear that in the flesh.

System is actually growing off me a tad - it's a bit too straightforward a pop song and not quite as good as Day I Die or older ones like Bloodbuzz Ohio.

system is better than day i die imo, found myself being a bit annoyed by the soft d's. it's like "the tzay i tzie" almost

System does have those incredible backing vocals so I'll give it that. The guitar solo is fun but also a tad cheesy and the lyrics are kind of weak. Like, it's a fun song to listen to but when I think about it I have criticisms.

Ultimately I think I enjoy every song on the second half more than every song on the first except for Day I Die.

My ranking right now is something like:
Dark Side of the Gym
Day I Die
Carin at the Liquor Store
Guilty Party
Born to Beg
I'll Still Destroy You
Empire Line
The System Only Dreams
Sleep Well Beast
Nobody Else Will Be There
Walk it Back
Turtleneck
So actually the previous statement isn't quite accurate, but Side B is definitely superior.

Think I'm going the other way Boney, I most enjoy just listening to the first five songs at the moment - that first side is 'classic National'.
Side B is more something new.

What do you think of my ranking?
Honestly though it's all great, at this point I rate everything except for Turtleneck at least a 4/5.

A little surprised you rank Empire Line and Day I Die so high, and a bit disappointed you don't rate Walk it Back higher, but if everything's a 4 except 'turtle' then I'm 100% behind it
