Still no clue how this has a higher rating than both Era Vulgaris and Lullabies tho lmao.

Should be a bit higher than Era but not Lullabies

Nah, I love Era Vulgaris. If you forget it's QOTSA when you listen to it it's a fucking ripper album. I feel like it's accomplished the dancey, new-wavey influences Villains wanted to go for, but while retaining some grit to it too.

Maybe the hardest 2.5 ever? Science says yes

Villains made me go back to Era Vulgaris and now I appreciate it a bit more. Not that I thought it was that bad in the first place, but now that Villains exists I've come to like it more.

Lullabies is better than this yeah.

only a 2? smh
Man this is just a fun as hell record, and even has a couple songs that would fit on Like Clockwork. Just a couple of duds on here that keep this from being a 4 for me

Production sucks on here. It really is disappointing. It's not bassy or dancy enough to pull off the sort of poppy production it has. It sounds like rock music with no balls.

Agreed Eons, the end result isn’t fun at all. The production is at odds with its (supposed) intentions. Regardless the song-writing just isn’t very good & wouldn’t fit on any Queens’ album bar Era Vulgaris (which is also garbage by the way).

Ye agreed demon, aside from the last 2 tracks this isn't up to par with any of their past efforts

Used to Do and Hideaway are the only weak ones here for me but they're both clearly bottom 10 in Queens' discog. I can also see why people wouldn't like Domesticated Animals and Haunted House

Villains of Circumstance is so damn good

Never have I felt so underwhelmed after listening to a QOTSA album.

I liked this album a lot more when I listened to it again tonight.

I feel like this just signals the end of QOTSA, at least for me anyway. I absolutely love everything before ...Like Clockwork, which I think is a fine piece of music, but there's just something about the sound and tone of that album that I don't enjoy as much. However, Villains just sounds like a cheap, poppy version of QOTSA.

Poppy or poopy?
That's the daytime dilemma pal...
