Saw them with Converge/Amenra last year. Was unreal. Although Converge were mixed shit (no surprise at the Danforth) but omg Amenra was probably the best opening band ive ever seen (and I was a big fan beforehand).

I havent been impressed with converge either last couple of times. I think ive seen them too much now. I dunno. Happy Amenra can do a headlining show there tho.

songs here go over sooooo much better live

Neurosis were so good live. Never seen any other artist spend so damn long checking their own tunings. Those riffs live punched my heart like no other

This has grown on me but I can't shake the feeling that it's a little underwhelming, Neurosis on auto-pilot. Can the relative brevity be a sign they were running out of original ideas, so decided to keep it short instead? I guess that's better than releasing a bloated 70 minute album that lacks the substance to justify the run-time.
Amazing band, one of the greatest in fact, I just think perhaps they've stopped reinventing themselves & are happy with what they have. Guess there's nothing wrong with that in itself, I just wouldn't ever choose to listen to this over their earlier works.

" I guess that's better than releasing a bloated 70 minute album that lacks the substance to justify the run-time."
yeah but that's never actually happened. i think what really hurts this is how short it is. they dont establish much of a mood or atmosphere and once you feel like you're starting to absorb it, it's fucking over. this feels like just a collection of songs like the first two records rather than a what we've come to expect from a neurosis album.
