But damnit, when the chorus kicks in, it sounds EXACTLY like a fairly recent and massively popular pop song. Can anyone help me out? It’s just right when the chorus kicks in and the first line, then the song detours into its own thing.

@larkin Basically that hook is super popular and I'm sure there have been dozens of songs that sounds like that. I can't narrow it down to one. the producer (Feldmann) even does that same melody in some Goldfinger songs.
