"I love how Earl has moved away from the MF DOOM influence and he’s developed his own unique style."

Yeah he isn't rapping like DOOM anymore but these are like the least unique beats he's ever rapped over. Don't get me wrong I really like the new album but the album is like any madlib beat tape/25 minute stretch of "chill lofi-hip hop beats to study to" but with Earl verses put over them.

I think this album (IDLS) is easily the most unique of the three albums he's put out.

nah, beats are a tad above 'beats to study to' on quality and variety imo

Are they though? Like I feel like if we removed Earl's name and verses from this project that'd be exactly what everyone would say about it.

The looped beats combined with the fact that the songs are so short, and Earl's delivery...none of it works for me. A lot of people are calling it a weird album, but truthfully I feel like it isnt weird enough.

I guess yeah.

Good album that'll probably be talked about like a masterpiece because people are so desperate to finally give an Earl album the "classic" label, even if he doesn't earn it.

"beats to study to" I think of J Dilla - Vintage Vol. 2, whereas this new one has a lot of Donuts in it but obviously more glitchy and disjointed I guess. and, yeah, "lo-fi". I like the album a lot
