With songs like the first The Great Secret, Pelican of the Desert, Saturnalia, Overstayer, If There Is Room to Move, Things Move, etc, I'd say so. The riffs punch so damn hard.

Can't decide whether this or Low Teens is better but they represent two different ends of the ETID spectrum. With Dillinger calling it quits they're up there with Converge as the best band in hardcore/metalcore today.

@Kurisu lol How? Like how they're a metalcore band? That's like the only similarity I see. The influence is obviously there of course, especially in earlier releases, but with all the clean vocals, rock, and southern tinges, how are they just Converge lite? Super disingenuous to say.
@Tuna, I dunno if they're quite up there with Converge for me (just because I'm such a Converge fanboy) but you aren't far off. Can't really think of another more consistently excellent and active metalcore band in the current sphere.

Converge are the better band but in terms of quality they're one of the best around right now. Every 2 years they release another fantastic album, not many bands can do that no matter what genre they are.

Yeah the fact that they've dropped a banger every couple years is a HUGE testament to how good a band they are. It usually either takes a group more time to put out something or they don't deliver as consistently.

Every time they release an album there's always the possibility is could break the streak but I trust them enough at this point for that to not happen.

imo, only thing converge has on ETID is that they have a true classic that stands above the rest. Anyone can present a strong argument, from Hot Damn! on, that any particular album is the best. Thats the strength of ETID - their unbelievable consistency. Not to mention they are STILL one of the best live bands in existence.

I'm beginning to think this is 'Hot Damn!'s' equal, might bump it up a little. Riffs so hard. Man, I need to hear more of this band. 'New Junk' then 'Low Teens' next I reckon.
'Gutter Phenomenon' was mildly disappointing however, not heard the rest...

I'm inclined to agree with you trilogique, but I have no idea where I think Hot Damn belongs in their discog.

A lot of people seem to really dig the new stuff, it's a testament to the band that they can produce (supposedly) their best material this many albums in.

The Big Dirty was the last album the released that changed the scene, imo. I think objectively Ex Lives, Ex Lives 2 (FPU) and Ex Lives 3 (Low Teens) are better albums, but put a gun to my head and I'm picking Dirty.
