I really wish DT would try a move into Prog Rock or something.

I don't see them putting out another amazing album, but I haven't actually looked forward to a new DT album since BC&SL.

They should do an atmospheric rock album. I wish Petrucci would drop the 7 string guitars. I'm

actually worried he'll move into djent territory

Haha. The new songs he's played on G3 tours are generic as fuck, so I wouldn't be surprised if we wants to spicen things up by adding more generic elements. Oh djoy

I would agree that FII is really good. It always bothered me that people said DT should do something

different and when they go and fucking do it they are all critical. Trial Of Tears and Lines in the

Sand are one of their best.

It's better than its reputation deserves but too many of the songs are boring or just bad to be considered one of their best at all. 4 or 5 of the songs are definitely great though, and overall it sounds a lot more organic and inspired than most of their 2000's material

@TalonsOfFire You express it better than I do. But, no, really, Lines in the Sand is wonderful. Especially the part from 9:44 to 10:15 is so fantastic!

Hell's Kitchen is fantastic too. It's probably my favourite DT instrumental.

What do you think about Illumination Theory?

Hell's Kitchen is definitely one of their best instrumentals and Peruvian Sky is one of the most interesting songs they ever wrote. New Millennium is great too, and of course the 10+ epics are the best. If the 6 best songs on here were released with the ACOS song it would definitely be a top 5 best DT album

This is actually a 3 but I enjoyed Illumination theory so much that I decided to rate this with 3,5, still one of the worst albums of DT
