Facelift is great, but it's always been my least favorite of the band's Layne-era work (and I even prefer Black Gives Way to Blue to it as well). I think a lot of that comes from the prominent 80s glam-adjacent influences, which tend to distract from the grimy and doomy nature of its highlights (Love Hate Love, Bleed the Freak, and It Ain't Like That are some of the band's best tunes imo). You could tell that the band were still in their formative stage with Facelift, and wouldn't fully come into their own until Dirt
