Obviously this is far from the technical level Metallica always showcased in the previous albums and it also is far from being a Metal record, but this surely has some great moments and some enjoyable songs. It is not the pile of crap that many people say it is.

The album is a little misunderstood for sure. It's as clear a 2.5 for me as you can get, roughly a third of its pretty good, a third of its average and a third of its poor.
