really enjoy that one, especially the soft section about 2/3 of the way through

Alright, song is better than I remembered haha, although LaBrie singing a revolutionary anthem is not something I'm sold on

Just listened to this for the first time and I'm annoyed that I ended up liking it. I wanted to hate everything after Octavarium.

Ha, there's a segment in 'Bridges' that sounds undeniably similar to 'The Landing' from FFVIII. They try to hide the fact by leaving out certain notes, but it's using the same chord progression and very similar accents. Thought it would be fun pointing that out.

was pleasantly surprised upon revisit, I may even enjoy this more than Black Clouds.

Nah, this sucks. Imo terrible by Portnoy-DT's standards, and that's not just a Portnoy DT fanboy statement. Omairt basically summed it up for me. Emotionless, mechanical, uninspired and very much not innovative.

I mean, it's not outright horrible like the albums that followed it at least. But DT post SDOIT is extremely hit or miss anyway, and this is still stronger than most of Octavarium, ToT and SC.

I’m braving DT’s discog for the first time in years and have been working backwards.
I’m finding that, outside of Six Degrees, this is pretty easily my favorite of their albums released in the 2000s. Take away Build Me Up, Break Me Down, and This is the Life, and trim Bridges in the Sky a bit, and you’re left with about 60 minutes of solid to excellent material and probably a solid 4/5 from me.

Yea, this album had many really solid melodic cuts. Cheese aplenty, but it's pretty great
