F#A# drones on a little too much at points but it's certainly seminal both musically and storytelling wise so it's still brilliant.

If anything, that's preferable to the mediocre climaxes on this

Oh boy that one hurts ;) we are definitely gonna have to agree to disagree there bud. Sleep is absolutely phenomenal during it's climaxes. Those strings bring the feels.

Last 5 minutes of Sleep rule hard but...that's sort of it for me. That string/drum beat combo yumyum.

Yea samples/spoken word parts are awesome. That old man's story destroys me.

Ye it's oddly interesting and gives a great set up for the track at hand.

The majestic first 6 minutes of Storm gave me pretty damn high expectations for the rest and the whole album just flat out delivers.

This is not as gripping as something like f#a#. The atmosphere is not as great as on some of their other releases

I've been listening through my Godspeed discog today, and after three records of haunting, isolated, and oppressive atmospheres, I just got to the opening notes of Storm, and it sounds so warm. It's like that moment when you run from a shower freezing cold and wrap yourself in a blanket.

"yeh f#a# is da best"
yea F#a# and slow riot
this is actually probably one of my lesser fav godspeeds. just doesn't really go anywhere

Slow Riot is perfectly compact.

F# A# and Slow Riot are among the best albums and EPs of all time, respectively. Nothing this group made afterwards even comes close to them.

hmmmm let me think about that
|

I personally think their masterpiece as far as albums go is F#A#. But comparing that to this is really challenging, they are completely different albums despite sharing many stylistics elements. Totally different experience, for me.
