Haha indeed.
Also, more on 'The Refusal:'
Much to the pleasure of the passionate fan base, the bare-footed guitarist Drew Goddard, assured the fans that the band have been hard at work in the studio. Tonight they were kind enough the preview a new song titled The Refusal. The new track solidifies Karnivool as masters of building a song. They take all kinds of weird effects and time signatures, smoosh them together and somehow manage to make it run smoothly so that nothing seems out of place. The song starts off heavy, Bassist Jon Stockman even adds some screamed vocals, progresses to a softer sound with clean guitar melodies, and then returns to the heavy sound in which the song began. In essence the band took all elements of what they do best, then took it a step further. A promising taste of what the new album will sound like.

The youtube link has now been taken down haha. No doubt Karnivool would like to have it as some sort of surprise. Mixed feelings about the song, but the quality wasn't that great on youtube. Guess I'll wait till I see them live :p

This is exactly why it was taken down. Understandably, they wouldn't want people making unjustified judgements of an unreleased song based on what is, essentially, white noise.

They did the same thing with all the new stuff from Sound Awake, so it was expected. It's mainly because half the time, the new stuff they played live was vastly different to the stuff that ended up on record. (ie. All I Know was called Pearogram and was 7 minutes long and Goliath had a 3 minute mandolin solo as an intro.)
The Refusal will probably change a heap before it ends up being recorded.

"Bassist Jon Stockman even adds some screamed vocals"
This doesn't sit well with me, I sorta like this band because they stand far apart from that cliche'. Also I loved the new BoT...

Has anyone listened to their ep Persona? It's pretty cool but a little bland. It's without a doubt their heaviest music they made but much less progressive.

Fear, listen to their Self Titled EP, it was released before Persona. It's great for a laugh.
WhiteNoise, from what the actual footage of the song was like, it was less screams and more a few yells from Jon. It's not as if they're becoming a metalcore band or something. Just is something a little different from their normal stuff, but yeah. When it says screamed vocals, they're not really screams, just a few yells here and there. If someone was gunna scream in 'vool, it'd be Kenny. He has a great scream in him, particularly on some of their early tracks..

Sounding like WhiteNoise is almost as bad as sounding like Puzzles.
