"you can just make all that stuff with no onions"

It would suck balls if you did, especially the soups

in what way are onions an essential ingredient of “peppers and steak”

there are two ingredients in that recipe you just can’t do without.

"I mean I Am the Walrus honestly IS genius though

Lennon wrote it to confuse people who were looking too deeply into his lyrics by combining the idea for 3 different songs he wrote into one, drowning it in psych effects, and tacking on a sample of a radio play (a VERY early use of sampling in pop)"

wow so he deliberately wrote a bad song to confuse the people expecting a good song? truly a genius yup

all facetiousness aside: I don't like it's lyrics, melody or production, it's that simple. compare it to songs he was writing just a year before like Strawberry Fields or She Said, which are genuinely forward-thinking in arrangement and songwriting, and Walrus comes out looking pretty weak imo

I definitely exaggerate just to get a rise out of people though. I mean I'd still take it over literally any of Paul's wack ass When I'm Sixty-Four rewrites

Even guacamole calls for onion, dude

(it's really easy to make at home, it's just avocadoes, chopped onion, garlic, and lime juice mashed together and then and chopped tomatoes added after)

@ars: that is a MUCH more reasonable take

I feel like penny lane inspired a lot of rip offs, but it’s sappy.

I don't completely mind Paul's style of writing, especially since he can turn out wacky bops like Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Lady Madonna, and heartfelt songs like I Will and For No One

but shit like Penny Lane, All Together Now and Good Day Sunshine are just like... ugh

when I was younger I used to like fun. and I realized today how similar the gambler is to penny lane. that vaudeville piano ballad vibe kinda was born with penny lane. I still don’t like it that much.
if anyone even knows that song lmao.
