gybe and sigur ros are the 2nd wave poster children for sure, but early mogwai/tortoise/do make say think are a respectable power trio
i'd associate later shit like toe and tomaga with 2nd wave too

Also I think it’s been long enough that we can stop pretending Godspeed isn’t also overrated despite certainly being one of the more interesting groups to ever come out of this

yeah TNT is comfortably the best post rock album to drop since Hex, and DMST's non-crescendo shit pays a lot of healthy tortoise tribute
people have been talking about Godspeed being overrated since forever? I'd go to bat for Skinny Fists tbh, am probably slightly overrating it myself but there is some enduring magic on that record
