Strange, isn't it. I used to think it was one of the best things ever, i think its the fact that the heavy sections are less awesome than they used to be. It sometimes feels like i'm only listening for the melodic/crazy sections...

That thought is incorrect, you should be thinking BTBAM are overrated garbage.

this album is simply incredible. it's the most musically advanced thing in metal ever. white walls needed to be exactly what it was. it needed to be the overly-epic ending it was, because that's all they built up to. any less epic, and it dissapoints the rest of the album.
also, tommy rogers is amazing. when they do this live he sounds exactly like the cd, and his range of different screams and singing is incredible.
i will say this though, this album is maybe a 4.5, only because of how unaccesible it really is. would you want to listen to a 64 minute song very frequently? it's kind of hard to just listen to a couple songs off of it.

honestly. try to get beneath the massacre or some other technical metal band to write a sixty-four minute long opus that doesn't sound like a wall of sweep picking.
blah! it seems like i'm yelling!

except he does a couple of 'fatal' growls/screams in White Walls. I guess that's what Coc means by his shitty technique. personally it doesn't bother me. it's after the first couple of verses after the first breakdown gets going, and the climatic one (closed-off circle...). so it isn't exactly like on cd.

that said i've digging this a lot lately, Colors LIVE that is, and it still delivers.

i don't think isis could ever be considered better than anyone, though i've only heard a handful of songs.
and for it to be advanced, it would have to be something that is actually advanced. colors is advanced, as it is basically a metal symphony, each part going into the next one with a purpose, and it all coming together in the end.
anyway, my point is, isis sucks.

yeah this album is awesome but what is your whole point with it being advanced? yeah it's experimental but it's not the most 'out there' metal album ever.
however, your main fail here is saying isis sucks because they kind of really don't.

I might check some out. All the post metal I've heard kind of bored me so I don't know if I'd like them too much.
