I will drink most any beer, but miller lite and Guinness are the go-tos. Straight rye whiskey if we wanna get heavier. No need to over complicate things.

@Futures hell yeah, but gotta admit, sours are probably the 1 beer I am avoiding lol.

@quetzal loved IPAs in my mid-20s and still enjoy them but have pumped the breaks quite a bit. Hazy is the way to go though if I’m going to get one now

def an acquired taste but there are some really good ones. i like ciders so i like em, similar profile. but a bad sour is ghastly lol. had a pineapple upside down cake sour once and it was great.

I hear you, I suppose spurs are just advanced ciders. Overly sweet/sour for me though. Nice beer selection you got there! I’ll take a lite

Yuengling and Stella are my go to drinks mainly for me. Although I do love Japanese imported Sopporo (if I'm even spelling it right) or Korean soju

"A good IPA is fucking fantastic / the problem is that most local microbreweries breweries don’t know how to make one properly but brew six different ones anyway because they don’t want to miss the hype train." (2)

Word. I think they get a bad rep generally because a lot of breweries produce a ton of very average ones, with little regard for anything else. If I don't know the brewery producing an IPA (or any beer really), I usually ask to try a sample first (some have earnt my trust).

There's a bar near me with over 20 taps and the variety is usually spot-on for local beer of all sorts, nice balance between session-able pales, blondes, stronger IPAs, darker beers, pilsners, wheat beers, sours etc. and occasionally some "exotic" import stuff. The great thing about this place is you can STILL get a pint for around £4.50 if you so choose, yet they also serve specialist (i.e. expensive) brews. I saw a Lambic in there for £11 a HALF once, lol.

The one thing you really don't see much of is the Belgian style beers. However, there is another bar literally around the corner that has a few staples (Delirium, Kwak, La Chouffe, Orval, etc.) so that's kind of their thing, but the selection of local brews is abysmal and overpriced in comparison

"I can't justify $14+ for two glasses of beer anymore."

What measure is that? 500ml, 440ml, 355ml? - thinking about what the U.S. standards may be, no idea if 440ml is a thing actually - we often get those in cans here. It'd normally be a pint 568ml, then 2/3rds, half, third. 2/3rd and a 1/3rd are usually only available in certain places, or for specific drinks

That's very solid value for a pint decent (or 500ml) but I'm guessing that's not what this "glass" may consist of

Leeds, Yorkshire

It's a fairly large chain (well the "parent" company is huge) that for my money has become soulless and is definitely overpriced, but if you like those styles of beer, they seem to pride themselves on the fact they get that stuff in - whereas it is hard to find otherwise, particularly on tap
