Agreed hard. I’m a catchy/heavy phxc fanboy so it tickles me in all the right places. This however has never clicked 😞

what it is to burn is a top 10 post-hardcore album of all time and I'll hear no different.

This album sounds like it was recorded by 5 different bands in the best way possible

This was such a ballsy left turn for a band that was in their position at the time. What it is to burn (the song) was getting played on mtv and whatnot even, this album was so different it basically killed off a large chunk of their fanbase lol
They also picked the one song on this album that I really don’t care for to be their lead single that basically advertised this album via the music video lmao. What a horrific choice to “sell the album” to fans lol. I only checked this out cuz I really liked Ink when I heard it on Madden

I think Miro would’ve been a killer single that also has that broader mainstream’ish appeal, in another universe they used that instead and there’s 2-3 follow up albums not too long after lmao…. I’m half kidding I think

WIITB was very enjoyable for me when I was younger. People oversell how poppy and generic it is, pretty crazy album if we don’t compare it to this classic

The DA DA DADA screams in Roderic Usher remind me of Prancer by TDEP in spots

Also makes me think of Protest the Hero but I can't think of the song

Super Dillinger coded, and Bloodmeat I think…? Just going off memory. Pretty awesome that they just full on went for it with that track, and Tbf Project Mayhem was even more of curveball. That would’ve been such a cool tradition for them to keep doing on future albums… sigh

IDK how good a single it would actually be but I'd have taken a shot on Brother Bleed Brother. It's just too good.
