I don’t really understand the point of this new EP: a standard track (which is barely there), a slightly different version with female vocals, and a live version? I wouldn’t mind if it was strong material to begin, but it just plods along in a very predictable way. Not impressed.
Ps just learned about the situation involving the moderators and writers. Shameful behaviour from the mods. I’ve seen the screenshots of their ‘discussions’ and they’ve shown themselves to be nothing more than incredibly thin skinned petty tyrants, who didn’t even contemplate engaging in good faith. Pretty apt to to mention this in a Cult Of Luna thread, as their ignorant vocalist continues to block people who mention Palestine or interrupt his incredibly boring centrist screeds. It’s practically nothing, and what I’d consider to be the bare minimum, but in solidarity with those writers I won’t be using this site a moment longer. You can already see the effects of their absence; this site is moribund and is nothing without the people who contribute.

Yeah, I'm not interested in it myself but I've got nothing against the band putting it out there.

Album’s super-solid. I know they’re pretty standard picks, but An Offering to the Wild and Blood Upon Stone are the tracks that carry me the furthest.
Strangely, the mid-section of An Offering… reminds me a lot of this album, it drives me mad that I cannot pin it down to any particular chord progression, but it’s there, even if the genre is completely different: https://youtu.be/RwALXWgIXps?si=VdxUaqTJswBG62Sm

i jammed blood upon stone the other day and thought to myself "damn this is tight", but then listened to ghost trail immediately after it which made me realize just how lacking this album is in terms of depth and grandeur. as a standalone album it's really, really good like all CoL is but when you compare it to the true heavyweights of their discography, none of the songs here really come close

I mean, Ghost Trail is one of their all-timers so props goes to Blood Upon Stone for the comparison. With that, I do enjoy Blood Upon Stone more. Love to hear both live…..

I missed the opportunity to see them live at Hellfest years ago.
Back at my tent, I did hear them open their set with Echoes. Fuck knows how loud it would've had to of been if I could hear them from there but they must have been supersonically loud that is for sure.

this album fucking rules, but they turned the guitar down too low. Imagine Blood Upon Stone with the riffs brought forward in the mix like they did with Salvation.

Blood Upon Stone live as last song of their festival closing set at Brutal Assault 2023 was a transcendental experience!
