I'd say it's better than Astronaut and on par with Heavenward. I love Astronaut but I feel it doesn't get the balance between vocals and music as well as this or Heavenward

Heavenward suffers from Paul's boutique syndrome. Nobody got it at the time...sad to think that the most groundbreaking albums are the ones that are ahead of the time...

I love how low tuned all of it is

as a guitar player I remember getting into heavy stuff meant that your guitar was eventually getting downtuned, so for an old favorite going lower without necessarily trying to be heavier yet does so won me the hell over

ya for sure, it is sick when it works. the summoning is a great example of downtuning really meshing with their sound extremely well bc it is very bright melodically and has a crushing low end, like every other song too tbf. pretty sure the rest is in drop C

You know I get frustrated when albums I love get flaccid responses on here while albums I think are snoozefests have 4+ avgs, but looking at responses to this album on RYM and AOTY, I’m really happy how enthusiastic everyone on this site is about this album. You got this one right, Sput
