Might bump score.
Been listening to this beauty for the past couple days, and it's a goddamn master piece.

production is huge. vocals are sometimes a little too quiet to understand but it certainly builds the atmo

This is a bit better than I gave it credit for. Is Rhodonite about dementia? am hearing a few nods that way

Here it is:

“The whole song is really [about], like, losing a family member. And in particular to dementia. My partner is in grad school for speech-language pathology. So, aphasic patients/apraxia of speech is kind of juxtaposing the loss of a relative to dementia with her career.”

if I'm understanding RHODONITE right it's about his partner losing someone to dementia. hence the reference to a "convalescent home" and "kill by surprise she said, I don't wanna stay alive to watch the words go first like hers". it's probably the same family member who's mentioned in YOU ASCENDANT, "denying your death and hers". Jordan hasn't lost someone close so he's an outsider to the whole process of grief, giving his partner children's toys in an effort to help her grieve, which ofc ties into the general concept of the album with the car crash on FULTON STREET

great song/best on here
