was literally about to post the same thing, easily the most memorable part of the album so far for me
the only thing i'd have loved to have on the album is something shouty and endlessly replayable like red cow was. julia is great but I need something with even more angst

That's one of my top mwY moments ever.
Favorite lyric from the record so far is: "I ran to the sea but the sea wouldn’t hide me/
The oceans agree there was no one to hide!"

"i'd have loved to have on the album is something shouty and endlessly replayable like red cow was"
I feel like Hydra fits that description, the whole thing is basically an infectious rant

yeah but its too short and just not as dynamic for me, i love hydra but it's way more like fugazi-ish kinda than it is that mid-2000s feel

Also Wendy & Betsy (more screamy than shouty but still)

wendy is a good point actually. idk maybe it will grow into that but red cow like even the first time i heard it became top 3 mwy songs ever. obviously will be replaying this a lot anyway so will see if something fills that void

yeah Red Cow is a fuller experience and probably slightly better than W&B

Red Cow is my fucking jam.

Someone on Genius said that Wendy is super likely to be a partial representation of Aaron's wife, and it makes the song so much more unhinged with that in mind.

channeling those genius excerpts like a pro
i'm doing the same thing lol

I'm part of a mwY fan group on fb (lol, I know) but the main Genius contributors are in there, and they work super hard on creating like hundred page annotation PDFs with research and references and shit. I'll post a download link here when they're done with the LP's PDF.
It's always a super insightful and expansive read

i just tried listening to the new coheed album the storytelling is so much cringier than anything mwY have done

lol dude I'm literally sitting here unimpressed by the new Coheed and I feel bad because I think it's just contextual and it could never live up to this

saaaaaaaame. I actually dig the new coheed record, but I couldn't take any of the lyrics seriously afer being so saturated by [Untitled] lol. I took a break to listen to it, but had to immediately go back to mwY. I'm afraid I've been ruined. Same thing happened with the new Emery record
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0
yeah I listened through once but I was thinking about [Untitled] the whole time and kind of just waiting for all 80 minutes of it to pass
I think I need to give this album its due and just not listen to any other new releases that would normally interest me until [Untitled] has run its course
Basically the same effect Science Fiction had for me last year, except this album is better than it (and most other Brand New albums) so yeah there's me admitting that

Nah but give this whatever rating you think it deserves man. I had CFUTF at a 3 or something until this year. Sometimes things don't click until they do.
And if this never clicks then just check yourself in for a psych eval, nbd.
