When they kick down your front door
Owl you gonna come?
With you hands above your head
Owl on the trigger of your gun?

Pass interference, defense. Ball will be placed at the spot of the owl, first down.

This isn't even the flagged review & there's 49 pages (vs 14 for the flagged one), not sure I want to reply in both despite the other one being way more accurate, so here we are.
Not feeling this so far, the song-writing is messy, everything sounds so neutered & don't get me started on that drum sound, it's ass. The vox lack power & personality. It relies heavily on novelty value with a noticeable lack of restraint... sax are cool & everything but why? It doesn't work, especially when it sounds so clean. Imperial Triumphant successfully integrated jazzy sections into an extreme metal release this year, but this just sounds like two different bands playing on the same album.
Apart from all this the album is stellar.

Usurpress also incorporated jazzy bits with stellar results if you haven't checked that out yet demon.

Yeah, that was a way better version of the 70s prog + death metal

If the production was better this would make the album better for me.

I can hear audible clipping on the second track with the drums playing those rolling fills near the intro.

"Bloc the problem I have with the production is the fact everything sounds so plastic and artificial. Drums especially but even the guitars have that super modulated sound you get from using Axfx or other digital effects processors like that. You can just tell the producers plugged in each note. This band IS very good live though. But they also all use axfx’s live so even then you get the digital tones."
Fair argument, but the thing is that I've been using an Axe Fx 2 for almost 5 years now. It's a spectacular piece of hardware that can sound very realistic imo.

This is deathcore? Todd Jones told me it's deathcore.

It has that Sumerian-style shiny robot production like a lot of modern deathcore so I see why he’d say that but it doesn’t really have any metalcore parts imo

I just saw this! Yeah one of my old band mates has had one since probably 2014 that I’ve messed around with a lot and I agree you can get a lot of realistic sounding tones out of it but it still generally has a digital SOUND to it that I can pick out vs just a regular head and typically I don’t really typically dig that in death metal. But they are a blast to play around with.

Honestly bro, I will probably never go back to tube amps. SS amps are just getting better and better. And don't even get me started on how good modelling amps are now...

"don't even get me started on how good modelling amps are now.."
Just bought a Boss Katana 50 because I needed a good at home practice amp with some versatility and for $200 it's insane.
