I like the part in The Evil Has Landed where Homme whispers the words 'anal cider' so quietly you can barely hear it.

Fortress is still one of QOTSA’s best songs.

Amazing lyrics and vocal performance from Josh.

Yeah, Fortress is amazing. This album is such a grower and its easygoing run time makes it so appealing.

Just realised your rating jumped up from your 3.5 review to 4.0 - is this actually that enjoyable? I honestly haven’t bothered with it yet

Yeah, man. It's a total grower. More simple in nature, with little bits of Like Clockwork in there for good measure. The run time makes it more appealing to go back to, and "Feet Don't Fail Me" is like best album opener of 2017.

Maybe I’ll check this again, recoiled in disgust the first time around & tried to forget this existed.

Yeah I've been meaning to come back to it. I've only heard it once and it was on the drive to my sis's wedding lol

2.5 seems more like a meh album with some good moments, not really trash tho

I’ve heard it 3 times, so not a complete snap judgement. It was maddeningly shallow & uninteresting based on that initial experience.

Most of it wasn’t terrible, just boring, apart from ‘The Way You Used To’ which most definitely is really bad.

For me this album is a fun ride that I enjoy pretty much every time I come back to it, but it's not something that I'm going to have stuck in my head or try to over-analyze and pay attention to because it's not memorable enough. When it gets going it does have some undisputed groove though.

I will admit I saw them live late last year and it was fun as hell, even when they played shit from this album

Lol yeah it may have been a bit much. Wouldn't have minded one or two from this being cut in favor of something from S/T or Rated R but oh well
