I've been listening to this album non-stop since release. I don't skip a song. They're getting better at songwriting. I can't wait for the next album in a couple of years.

BNE and this are all the Paramore I'll ever need for the rest of my life. [2]

This is nothing close to a 4 for me. Half of it is beautiful, the rest is just boring sounding pop music people act like is better than it is because it's depressing

I can't qualify any of this as depressing
26 maybe but it's gorgeous and if anything more forlorn/introspective

tbh this isn't exactly a happy record either, the tone being rather misleading
I wouldn't call it depressing though.

If you keep watching someone's face after they finish laughing, you'll see it gradually go from a smile, to a neutral facial expression, into possibly even a frown. I think that's what the album title is referring to.

Sometimes I want to bump this and then I listen to the whole thing and remember everything wrong with it

what's your gripes with it bud? I find very little to complain about honestly. It's a good mood album with heartfelt lyrics that I vibe hard with.

This album is good, but whenever I'm in a Paramore mood I just go right to All We Know or Riot.

see I'm a sucker for some great grooves and this is chalk full of em

I find this more realized then all we know or riot, the only one that comes close at this point is BNE they just seem so content and comfortable in their sound here, whereas those albums (for me anyway) are pretty standard for the genre. BNE broke the mold for me and this just totally caught me by surprise and was totally refreshing. I think I need to give their self-titled another go too though, I'd probably enjoy it a lot more now.

I hate the reliance on nostalgia to create a sound that's largely already been done before. Like I get that Paramore has never been the most original band, but at least they did their sound with some great variety and hooks without ripping off the 80s
plus you know how I feel about 80s-nostalgia-fueled music anyway

I have a list of issues somewhere
But basically I showed this to my mom who always liked Paramore and all she said was "Why do they sound so boring now?"

this is true haha I know you are not too big on the 80's but this was a pleasant throwback sound
