I prefer rawer prod in most genres, but this complements the style perfectly to me. Everything shimmers and rings out as it should do and you can hear everything individually going on instead of it all just being buried under a wall of noise (I know thats what shoegaze is, but slowdive have always been more dream pop to me).
Also Neil's vocals just sound so much better here, I don't like the way they're mixed on souvlaki and the slight britpop twang is the most obviously dated aspect.

This is definitely their least sonically interesting. And I definitely prefer the slightly rougher production on JFAD/Souvlaki to the uber-pristine sound here. (2).
