Oh god I'm only making 96,000 a week from plays on Spotify guise.

I'm starving for money guise.

I'm Taylor Swift the starving Countrystep artist.

She basically sold 1.2 million in the first week because it wasn't streaming.
I think other artists should follow suit, streams ruin it a bit for me. I never listen to them.

"She basically sold 1.2 million in the first week because it wasn't streaming."

So because a popular artist wants to bring back an inefficient music distribution format we should all follow suit?

No, she's being used as a last ditch effort by record labels to boost physical album sales.

I just want record stores to stay open. Downloading is a pile of wank.

You'll still be able to buy CDs, in the future bands who want to sell CDs will have to advertise the same way bands today advertise vinyls, play off the consumer's nostalgia / past culture obsession factor.

I'm just saying, let's reduce CD sales to a novelty and shift everything over to digital, it's easy, quick and you don't have to waste time and car gasoline to get an album. If you really miss the feeling of a CD, just burn digital tracks to a CD, takes five minutes at the most.

I just like having the physical item and the booklet. An honest fan of music wouldn't be bothered
about wasting "time and car gasoline".
If I wanted to listen to some King Crimson, for example, I wouldn't want to listen to it on some
compressed as fuck download.

I don't get it personally bar maybe your favorite band's CD (that's understandable given it's your favorite artist), but it simply costs too much / is too inefficient for anyone bar artists like Taylor Swift these days. It sets a lot of bands back financially unless they're backed by a Record Label, and Record Labels in their current form are horridly draconian and need to change.

If you really think that you're making an artist like this starve or some shit by not being on spotify, that is impossibly ignorant. Swift is bathing in money as is all the other pop stars.

Sales should matter far less than how the music sounds and how many people hear it.

They may not get as much if you're buying it of Amazon but if you're buying it from their website or
at a concert, they're going to get a decent cut.
And that's only one aspect. Downloading just doesn't sound as good as the physical medium and I'm not
willing to compromise on quality just because it's less convenient.

You do realize that a cd just has digital files on it? It sounds exactly the same unless

the files on the CD happen to have better quality than a digital copy.

Actually I've never seen any difference really between mp3/wav or whatever and cd. Maybe I'm not audiophile enough

Vinyl is a completely different story. It does sound different and in most cases, better.

Booklets and posters? Dude, paper has been outdated for 5 years.

CDS take up physical space and can scratch very easily, even if you do take care of them. God forbid there's a fire or you get robbed, they're gone. With itunes everything is backed up on the cloud so you can just redownload them.

What the fuck is wrong with people? to actually LOSE you account on itunes, they have to hack your email AND the account. Otherwise you can change the password, unless you're a complete dumbfuck.

digital > Physical

iTunes are basically giving you permission to listen to something. With a physical copy you OWN it. You aren't just iTunes' bitch.
"Booklets and posters? Dude, paper has been outdated for 5 years."
Guessing you've never read a book before then.
