"lech, negative one, and sarcastrophe are the only really good songs here"

Every song on here is at least very good, although I would agree that those are the best.

the production is really thin and unheavy, which is a deathblow to a slipknot record

i have sony mdr v6's, which are pretty fucking good headphones. i'm not the most educated on production, but i would never call this album bassy, it seems to be particularly lacking in that really deep richness that iowa had.

agree to disagree, but disagree hard. lech, negative one, and rain are good, but after the song writing/composition of Vol 3. they've gone pretty downhill in my mind

^yeah the production is weird, something about it doesnt have the kick the last 4 albums did.

tbh i think this is their worst album. wasn't the guy who died (Paul Grey?) the main composer and arranger of their music? it would certainly explain why the songs are lacking that certain kick to em. also doesnt help they booted their drummer they had for over 10 years either.

i think the band are just trying to find their footing after losing 2 long time members who were a big part of their sound (and were their rhythm section!), thats why the album sounds weird

the drummer was the other main composer. so yeah, losing the two main composers is a pretty big hit, which is probably why the album seems pretty ehhh in the writing department

and yeah, not having the kick is a good way to put it. no mmphhhm

So I saw these guys for the first time on Friday night, even though the last two albums were garbage. It was cheap, and I figured I might as well see them once.

Cory cant scream worth crap anymore, and the new drummer sucks. But man do they ever put on a show!

Sidenote: Holy gravy Lamb of God was INTENSE!

i still jam the first three and enjoy the hell of them, it doesn't need to be early 2000s to enjoy a nice slipknot sesh

oh gotcha.

i think this formula is a watereddown version of what they did, not the exact same. guitars aren't either heavy or memorable.
