I got into a heated Swans debate at work the other night.
Gira doesn't know the boundaries he's penetrated.
edit: fuck you too, gyro ; )

Basically he was insinuating that Swans never should have re-started because The Seer and To Be
Kind are both shit. I defended The Seer as being one of my favorite albums of all time and
objectively one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the last 5 years or so. He also tried telling me
that if any of them were worthwhile, it's My Father Will Guide Me... and I didn't agree even though I
liked that record too.

I don't hate Brand New btw. Haven't heard Daisy. I like the fox though.

That's the thing about Daisy - it's kind of intentionally screwed up. I forget where, but there's even a thing about Jesse Lacey saying that some of the tracks were purposely distorted beyond sensibility to instill an atmosphere of chaos and in the case of Be Gone and In a Jar, embed messages. If you look up the lyrics to Be Gone, they're freaky as shit. And playing In a Jar backwards reveals some pretty weird biblical metaphors.

I was overshadowed by his giant pony brain. Why do I even try?

"if any of them were worthwhile, it's My Father Will Guide Me..."
haha. hey I like the new Swans albums fine, I just think a lot of their older stuff (which nobody cared about at the time of release, hallelujah internet though) was better. that being said, My Father Will Guide Me is mehhhh

No-one should even bother commenting once Jac enters a thread tbh

Yeah My Father Will Guide Me is like a 3.5 (even though I believe I rated it a 4.5 back in the day, oh silly contributor version of Sowing), TBK is a 3.7, and The Seer is a 5. To me, anyway.

Soundtracks > TBK > Seer = White Light
Ugh. What am I doing?

I haven't rated any of their old albums yet, but I think Soundtracks for the Blind is my favorite out of those. Based on like 1 listen each, though.

Soundtracks was alright it's just a shame how Gira thinks he actually has the ability to make albums that are two fucking hours long
|
| |
SFTB is my fav Swans I think. I also like Children of God, Filth, Holy Money, Cop... :S
