dude tommy literally stephen's vocals are the best part of the band, and so if you don't appreciate it or the production, you'll never appreciate the album the way most of us hardcore anberlin fans do. you'd likely dig the album before cities (never take friendship personal) more though, even though it has one cringe-worthy song (stationary)

nah dude I dig his voice I just wish he was a little less prominent and they guitared a bit harder
up to reclusion and so far feeling a hard 3.5/light 4

but it's too early in the morning to feel feelings will jam again tonight and prob 5 it

luckily the best three songs are the last three .
so basically it's the production style. there's definitely a lot of vocal layering in cities.
personally that's what makes UWCC so breathtaking for me (the bridge is so fucking powerful) but i do
understand where you're coming from. like i said, their previous album will be more suited to what
you're saying, even if the quality of songs is a bit poorer.
you might also like this one better because it does guitar harder for a lot of songs.

"don't drop your heart/ i'll guard your heart/ with quiet words i'll lead you/ in and out of the dark"
ugh so good.
lakes is absolutely correct, if it's a 3.5-4 before the last three, it should be a 4 hard/ light 4.5 by the end. (*fin) is literally my favorite song ever, and in terms of "best" songs ever (lol objectivity) i wouldn't hesitate to throw it in there.

"cities is pretty cool so far but the dude needs to shut his fruity mouth more often like he nearly ruins unwinding cable car when he la la las over everything and doesn't let the guitar breathe"
haha, yes

Agreed. Actually when I listen to this, I enjoy it as much as I should be enjoying a 4.5. But I find myself wanting to listen to Cities more. I guess that sums my feelings pretty neatly.

I feel you, it's a pretty low 4.5 for me too (4.3-4.4). There are just enough awesome moments, but since Type Three has worn off me a little, there's nothing on here that I'd call brilliant or whatever.

That's probably true, but I listen to Anberlin randomly just as much as I listen to them in album order, so listening all the way through has slightly less importance to me.

I love me some shuffle on my computer and/or mp3 player. The only time I really listen to an album straight through is if I have just gotten it and I am still trying to get used to it, trying to review said album, or I am using the CD player in my car (only a one discer).

Yeah I like shuffle just because otherwise I'd listen to my favorite albums only and thus way too many times. This way I can listen to stuff I don't necessarily like as much all the way through
